You do not require a referral from your GP to make an appointment with a Psychologist. However, if you would like to claim from Medicare then you will require a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP. I am registered as a Medicare provider. Please bring along your MHCP to the initial session. Usually, a Mental Health Care plan will partially cover you for 6 sessions with a Psychologist and further sessions can be requested, if necessary.
